Its silhouette is seen from far away - even from the left Volga bank, through lacy construction of TheVolga Bridge… Ulyanovsk - one this name fills the soul with deep emotions…
Length of the railway bridge is more than two kilometers, with one edge it rests upon the left low bank and the other sets on the foot of Venets hill. On this hill Ulyanovsk stands, or, rather, its historical center. The city is hardly seen from the water, only on the top of the hill buildings appear among the trees, and on the steep slope are seen roofs in green trees of gardens… Here, on the top of the hill is situated the most beautiful, the most memorable place, which is dear to the heart of every citizen, - Venets… In this beautiful place, which is situated on this high hill-side, walked many famous countrymen. Here Nikolay Yazykov made a declaration of love to his small homeland. On Venets walked famous historian Nikolay Karamzin. Great poet Pushkin stayed in the city. And every time, for all of them the city was beautiful in blossoming of gardens, quite provincial streets, boundless Volga expanse… Slightly modified, but still splendid, today we see the city, its present citizens.

The Park of Nations' Friendship is an essential part of the Lenin memorial complex, built in Ulyanovsk to the 100-years anniversary of V.I. Lenin's birthday. Its functional purpose is to show unity, equality, brotherhood of USSR nations by means of natural ornamental plants and small architectural forms. This park is a friendly gift of the soviet republics to Lenin's homeland.

"Vinnovskaya roscha" is one of the largest natural woodlands. The grove is famous for its century-old oaks, deep shady ravines, springs. Earlier Vinnovskaya grove was called Kindyakovskaya, because it was a part of estate of land-owing lady Kindyakova, where I.A. Goncharov was writing his novel "Oblomov". Here is situated the famous monument, described in the novel.

Park "Molodezhny" was established in Zasviyazhsky district in 1980. Its area is 14 hectares. Here are situated attractions and sporting grounds, works a fountain. On the territory of the park is situated a circus tent, where every day are held performances for children and grown-ups.

Park of Victory was opened in 1962 in a forest tract, adjoining to the north part of Ulyanovsk. In the park are available different attractions, shooting-range, and summer stage. On one of the stages is presented military equipment of the time of the Great Patriotic War. In 1985 was opened a path of Heroes, where are presented portraits of Ulyanovsk citizens, heroes of the Soviet Union.

Matrosov Children's Park is not large - only 2.5 hectares. It was created in 1936, but till now here work attractions, work children's club. After the restoration in the park was again opened a monument to the hero Alexander Matrosov, in whose honor was named this park. Here take place children's and youth holidays, sporting competitions.

The central Sverdlov Park is one of the oldest parks of the city. Its former name was "Vladimir Garden". The park is situated in the upper part of the slope of the Volga hill-side, entrance is from Lenin square. In 1947-48, to 300-years anniversary of the city Simbirsk - Ulyanovsk, was conducted a scheduled reconstruction of the park. In these years were built "arch" at the main entrance to the park, constructed stone stairs with decorative vases on pedestals on both sides of it.

The ecological Park «Chernoe Ozero» (The Black Lake) was established in 1993 on the base of the lake with neighboring section of the river valley and Sviyaga water area with islands. Total area of the park is 303,94 acres. At the park territory grow about 420 plant species (40% of current flora of Ulyanovsk and its neighborhood), live 20 species of fish and 120 species of birds.
